E3 is just around the corner, but Nintendo already started to give us awesome news about their new console, Wii U. Aside from showing a slightly redesigned Wii U GamePad, a more traditional Wii U Pro controller, Miiverse (Nintendo going social in a big way, finally!) and some other stuff, they also presented this brilliant commercial. Starring Hipster Guy, Non-specific action figure and Grandpa gamer, it's really something you should see. And for the whole 30-minute Nintendo Direct presentation, go over here.
The National revealed a song from upcoming Game of Thrones season 2 soundtrack, called Rains of Castamere. The song's lyrics come from G.R.R. Martin's books, and if you want to read about it's history within A Song of Ice and Fire universe, head over here. BE WARNED, THE SITE CONTAINS SPOILERS. All I can say, it's about lord Tywin Lanister and his victory against rebels prior to the events of the books and series. You can hear the song below.
So here's the good news: Linkin Park are preparing a new album and they released not one, but two new songs from it. The first one, a single called Burn It Down, debuted yesterday with it's music video on MTV and the second one, called Lies Greed Misery, premiered today on BBC Radio 1. Even though the band promised some kind of return to the roots which are Hybrid Theory and Meteora, it looks like the 5th album, Living Things, will feature a lot of sounds familiar from their 3rd and 4th album. Living Things comes out on July 25 and was produced by famous Rick Rubin. Enjoy the new songs below.
Serj's new music video for Figure It Out premiered today on Noisecreep, just in case you haven't noticed yet. The video isn't all that stunning, but hey, it's still a new song by Tankian! So watch out for his third solo album, Harakiri, coming out on July 10, and listen to Figure It Out below (and let's all hope we'll get a System of a Down album after that!).
Video for Woodkid's new song Run Boy Run debuted yesterday. Although visually it's pretty similar to his first video, Iron, musically it's something a little bit different. Much more dancy, I'd say. The video was once again produced and directed by Woodkid himself and, once again, it's stunning. Watch for yourself (I suggest in fullscreen at 1080p) and look forward to his debut album, The Golden Age, coming this fall.
Just to compare, here is a live version of Run Boy Run from Katowice. It's very similar to what Woodkid did at Electronic Beats in Bratislava, where I've seen him, and I find this version a little bit more intense than the studio one.
Lastly, if you like the song, support it. And if you weren't lucky enough to see Woodkid live and you'd like to at least hear the recording of it, have a look at this site.
Well, here's the latest trailer for Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-man, which debuted earlier today on Apple. That's all.
Edit: After a while of thinking, I guess I'm starting to get really excited about this movie. Andrew Garfield and Mirror Edge-like shots still don't sell it to me, but the trailer looks, well, Amazing :)
Ralph McQuarrie, a conceptual artist most notably known for his work on original Star Wars trilogy, died yesterday at the age of 82. He also worked on original Battlestar Galactica series, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Jurassic Park and others. For his work on movie Cocoon he won an Academy Award for Visual Effects in 1985. You can read a statement by George Lucas here or visit McQuarrie's website here.
A week ago, I finally bought Pokémon Heart Gold. As I really wanted to start my adventure with a shiny starter, I softresetted. A lot. And without a success, so today, I told my girlfriend we can start playing, even without a shiny (She was bugging me the whole week that she wants to play and doesn't care about shinies but oh well, a week didn't hurt her :D). She pickud up a Chikorita, however, Chikorita didn't have a good nature, so I softresetted (again) for a good natured female Chikorita. Some 10 soft resets later, we ended up having a shiny Totodile! Now, the adventure can truly begin!
New scans from Game Informer reveal details about the latest addition in Assassin's Creed franchise. The story will be set during American Revolution, a will take place somewhere between Boston and New York. We will play as Connor, whose mother was Native American and father an Englishman. However, Desmond will also have a great role in the present day. For more details, you can look at all the scans here.
Frankenweenie is remake of Burton's 1984 short film. It's inspired by Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, however instead of being about a doctor and his monster, it's about a small boy, Victor, who brings his deceased pet dog, Sparky, back to life. The movie is set for release on October 5, 2012 and you can watch the trailer below. (By the way, the animation seems to be done much in the same way as Burton's short film from 1982, Vincent. The main characters also seem to be pretty similar. You know what, just watch Vincent here and make your own opinion :D.)
OK, so it'đ time to get my blog started again. First images from AC3 leaked earlier today, one from Best Buy's employee and one yould be seen on Game Informers cover for a little while. Images show what seems to be a Native American with a tomahawk and a Colonial apparel. In the backround of the picture from Best Buy a Colonial flag can be seen also. Now we just have to wait for official reveal by Ubisoft, which should happen on March 5.
